Ryan Nelsen says QPR’s players need to toughen up in order to recover from their dismal start to the season.
Despite another summer of big spending on eye-catching signings, Rangers are still without a league win this term.
And Nelsen, who has captained the team in Ji-sung Park’s recent absence, insists they cannot climb the table on talent alone.
“At times like this, I think talent goes out the window,” the veteran defender declared.
“Talent’s easy. It’s showing mental strength that’s the key and that’s what hopefully we’ll be able to do.
“Strength of character is needed. The players know they’ve got the skill and physical attributes.”

I am getting Ryan's bloodied face on my t-shirt. That says it all. In the back I will put on the logos of QPR and All Whites. We prefer the term privateering over piracy, by the way. Perhaps in honor of Esteban corsairing should be used... ?
I am officially in love with Ryan, in a respectful and chaste way. He is a rock indeed. Character really does matter when the chips are down, especially. I am so glad and thankful for Nelsen. I am also a huge fan of Tony Fernandes, and for HIS sake I want to see all us Rssss crying tears of joy together down the road. For the love of these good men, I pledge my EYEBALLS through thick and the thin. Keep praying to the gods of football, and keep the good karma coming.
Send out good thoughts to the injured rangers.
I send each of you my love and kisses.
(I also find Derry quite inspirational.)
