QPR worry over Onuoha – and Zamora faces long spell out

QPR are anxiously assessing a hamstring injury suffered by Nedum Onuoha during the goalless draw against Brighton.

And striker Bobby Zamora, who missed the game, faces weeks, possibly months, on the sidelines after undergoing knee surgery.

Onuoha, outstanding so far this season, went off midway through the first half at Loftus Road, where a point was enough to take Rangers to the top of the Championship.

“He’s done his hamstring. We’ll have to wait and assess that over the next 48 hours,” said first-team coach Joe Jordan.

Zamora could miss the rest of the year.
Zamora could miss the rest of the year.

“We’ll have to wait to tell you how bad it is, but he’s pulled it I’m afraid.”

Onuoha looks certain to miss Saturday’s trip to Yeovil, where Rangers are again likely to be without Andy Johnson and Junior Hoilett.

Johnson is still nursing a knee problem, while Hoilett has a hamstring injury.

QPR’s relative lack of attacking options showed against Albion, who defended well and rode their luck at times.

Rangers remain unbeaten in the league this season and have now kept five consecutive Championship clean sheets.

Jordan added: “We had by far the better chances and when chances are taken and you can take the lead it changes the whole complexion of the game.

“As it stood, with both teams keeping a clean sheet, it suited Brighton.

“We’d prefer to be top of the table with a victory but when you look at the stats we’ve been convincing and consistent.

“We’ve approached things in the right manner and the players deserve credit for that.”
