Mission accomplished for QPR, says Eustace

John Eustace praised QPR’s players after they lost at Derby but learned their Championship status for next season is secure.

Rangers were beaten 2-0 at Pride Park, where Harry Wilson scored two-injury-time goals for the Rams.

But Rotherham’s home defeat against Birmingham means QPR cannot go down.

“We’re safe now, that was the aim when I took over and we have done that,” said caretaker boss Eustace, who took charge following the recent sacking of Steve McClaren.

Rangers had chances against Frank Lampard’s side, with Tomer Hemed and Matt Smith going close before Wilson broke the deadlock with a 94th-minute penalty after Luke Freeman was controversially adjudged to have fouled Jayden Bogle.

Eustace said: “We had lots of chances and were the better team, but we didn’t take the chances and got punished at the end by a top team.

“If we had put our chances away it would have been different.”

  • the worst piece of biased one sided refereeing ,I've seen all season, the referee is not fit to take charge of an U5's game a complete disgrace, where did he conjure up 9 mins extra time from, why did he give Derby a pen from what was clearly a "tired" challenge and NOT a foul, why were Derby never pulled up for some of their bullyboy tactics,I repeat a compleat disgraceful performance by a so called referee.
