QPR boss Mark Warburton is hopeful Lee Wallace will soon be available for selection.
Wallace has been nursing a hamstring strain and is likely to remain sidelined this weekend.
Warburton believes Sunday’s game at Middlesbrough will be “probably a game too early” for the Scot.
But Rangers believe Wallace could be back in their squad for next Wednesday’s away match against Wigan.
Injuries and Ryan Manning’s form at left-back mean Wallace, who turns 33 next month, has started just 10 league matches since arriving in west London from Glasgow Rangers - where he previously played under Warburton - last summer.
“It’s a big frustration for us. Lee was training really well and he just tweaked a hamstring,” Warburton said.
“Hopefully it’s not very serious - a low grade. He’s running and we’re looking forward to welcoming him back.
“Ryan Manning has shown his quality but we need to have cover and experience. It might also allow Lee Wallace playing left of a back three.
“The medical team, who are and have been outstanding, are working tirelessly to get him ready and I don’t think he’s too far away.”
