Ethan Laird might well have made his last appearance for QPR after being axed from the squad by Gareth Ainsworth against Norwich.
The on-loan Manchester United right-back was left out despite Rangers being without a number of players, including right-back Osman Kakay.
It meant Aaron Drewe was brought into the side, with Jimmy Dunne returning to the centre of defence after recently playing at right-back instead of Laird.
It remains to be seen whether Laird is recalled for the remaining three matches of the season.
“Ethan, great player, just couldn’t get in the squad,” was R’s boss Ainsworth’s only comment when asked about Laird after Wednesday’s 1-1 draw.
Stefan Johansen was also absent from the squad. Ainsworth said the midfielder had picked up a knock.
Laird, 21, was a standout performer for QPR during the early part of the season, but his loan spell has turned out to be a major disappointment.
He has started 28 Championship matches for Rangers and made 30 appearances in all competitions.
