Top 10 would be ‘really good’ season for QPR – Warburton

Mark Warburton has reiterated that a top-10 finish would be an excellent achievement for QPR this season.

Rangers moved up to 10th in the Championship table with a 2-1 win at Middlesbrough, where they held on after Seny Dieng was sent off in the second half.

Warburton’s side have been excellent during the second half of the campaign, suggesting they could be a force to be reckoned with next season if they are able to keep their best players.

Manager Warburton said: “If we can finish in the top 10 and finish strongly then I think it’s a really good season for us. Really good.

“We’d like to build from there; keep our young players, keep building, but this league is relentless.

“Big teams come down, there are big budgets around. And some big clubs will come up.

“So it’s about looking after your own shop, recruiting well in the summer, keeping your players, rest and relax and come up back for a good pre-season and see where it takes us.”

Dieng suffered a broken nose shortly before being shown the red card for a rash challenge on Duncan Watmore.

The keeper is the second QPR player to break his nose this week, with Jordy de Wijs having suffered the same injury against Rotherham on Tuesday.
