‘Just bring it on’ – Holloway says QPR won’t fear leaders Sheffield United

Ian Holloway believes QPR have nothing to fear from their next game against Championship leaders Sheffield United after stunning Wolves at Loftus Road.

Holloway’s side had failed to win any of their previous seven games, but overcame Wolves 2-1 to prevent them from regaining top spot from the Blades.

Rangers now face the Sheffield side at Loftus Road on Tuesday night and Holloway declared: “I thought we looked as good as Wolves, if not better.

“Now we’ve got to play somebody else who’s top of the league – and how many times have we had this season? Just bring it on.

“It doesn’t matter who’s where [in the league], if we keep working like that, I’m very certain that QPR will get stronger and stronger.

“That performance makes me as proud as any other performance we’ve given. Let’s see if we can do the same against Sheffield United.”

Conor Washington fired Rangers into a 41st-minute lead, only for Leo Bonatini to equalise with his eighth goal of the season just two minutes later.

There were chances for both sides in the second half – with Luke Freeman hitting the woodwork for the R’s – before substitute Matt Smith headed their winner nine minutes from time.

Holloway felt the three points represented just reward and reserved praise for Joel Lynch, who supplied the teasing cross for Smith to head home.

The Rangers boss added: “I thought I could make changes from the bench that would cause them problems. For me, the quality ball in made all the difference.

“Lynchy’s a left-sided centre-half and he’s gone forward, brilliant ball and Matt Smith, after missing one with his head, stuck it in the bottom corner. It’s nothing more than we deserved.”
