QPR assessing Chair back injury

Marti Cifuentes says QPR should soon establish how long Ilias Chair will be unavailable for.

Rangers have started the new campaign without the playmaker, who missed most of their pre-season matches.

And head coach Cifuentes says the club expect to learn more about a back problem Chair has been struggling with.

There are fears he will be unavailable for a significant period of time.

“I think tomorrow will be an important day,” Cifuentes said on Thursday night.

“The medical staff are making some tests and then tomorrow I will get more news.

“The nature of his injury is a bone bruise in his lower back. The only treatment really was to take him out of the pitch and go day by day.”

Chair, 26, scored seven goals last season and was a key player as Rangers avoided relegation, prompting speculation that he could move on this summer.

“He is a very important player for us and we want him to stay. He knows that and I’m sure that he will stay here,” Cifuentes said.
