Gareth Ainsworth says he believes Jake Clarke-Salter is capable of making an impact at QPR.
The defender, 25, has made just 12 starts for Rangers since being signed last summer after being released by Chelsea.
His most recent appearance came in the 1-1 draw at Huddersfield in early February.
But he is back in training and could return to action for QPR’s B team next week.
And boss Ainsworth says he rates Clarke-Salter highly and is keen for him to play in the final few matches of the Championship campaign.
Ainsworth declared: “I really rate Jake and hopefully he can be a bonus for us coming up towards the end of the season.”
On-loan Leeds forward Tyler Roberts, who has also been unavailable for much of the season, is said to be close to return to action.
Clarke-Salter is at least another week away from a return but is expected to feature soon.
“I don’t think you’ve seen the last of Jake Clarke-Salter this season.I think he’ll be back by the end of the season and get some game time, which is great,” Ainsworth said.
“He’s out on the (training) pitch now and once that happens it’s about getting in the squad and team - or the B team maybe for a game.”
