Mark Hughes says he plans to stay at QPR for a long time and has no clause in his contract allowing him to leave.
Speaking at a news conference to mark his appointment as manager, the Welshman said Rangers’ ambition persuaded him to take the job.
And Hughes, who was sacked by Manchester City and last summer quit as Fulham boss, insisted he was determined to make a long-term impact at Loftus Road.
“My last couple of positions haven’t lasted as long as I wanted them to, so now I’m wanting longevity,” he said.
“The frustrating thing for me is that I implemented things and then wasn’t around to see them through.
“Here, I’ve got an opportunity to build something from the ground up, which is what I want to do.
“They want to build and be a Premier League club for many years. That appealed to me. It’s an exciting opportunity.”
R’s chief executive Philip Beard added: “We believe this is the right time to make this change. I think every QPR fan will look back and feel we’ve made the right decision.”
