Holloway: QPR youngsters should be playing
Ian Holloway has told Love Sport Radio he believes a number of QPR youngsters should be featuring more under Steve McClaren.
Paul Smyth and particularly Ryan Manning caught the eye under Holloway before he was sacked as Rangers manager and replaced by McClaren last summer.
Smyth is currently on loan at Accrington Stanley, while Manning was loaned to Rotherham and has been overlooked since returning to Loftus Road.
Holloway said: “I watched little Smythy play against Sunderland the other day – he scored one and made one. I can’t believe he’s out on loan, but that’s not my decision.
“Ryan Manning went out on loan and that wasn’t my decision.
“I was told I’ve got to bring young kids through, so that’s what I tried to do and luckily some of them are good enough to be fantastic Rangers players and they care about the place.”
Holloway also believes Bright Osayi-Samuel should be given more first-team action.
He said: “I want to see him get a few more look-ins. I think there’s a real hidden potential there.”
