Holloway confirms QPR duo will miss Brentford game
QPR boss Ian Holloway has confirmed that Joel Lynch and Darnell Furlong are out of the game against Brentford.
West London Sport revealed on Saturday morning that both players had been ruled out of Monday’s derby, adding to Rangers’ defensive injury woes.
Lynch suffered an ankle injury in the defeat at Derby County last week, while Furlong missed that game with a knee problem and is still struggling.
It comes while Nedum Onuoha, James Perch and Steven Caulker remain unavailable, while Grant Hall is expected to miss the entire season with his knee problem.
A number of youngsters have therefore been under consideration for places in the squad, but Niko Hamalainen will not be included – the 20-year-old is struggling with illness.
“We’ve had a lot of injuries, especially in the defensive areas,” Holloway told QPR’s website.
“It seems whoever comes in, they pick up an injury. It’s so frustrating. I’ve never known anything quite like it.
“Now unfortunately you can add Joel Lynch and Darnell Furlong to that list.
“We’ve got eight defenders out in total at the minute. Nine if you add Niko Hamalainen, who is coming back from bronchitis.
“Osman Kakay might have to come into the mix too, but we’re down to three senior defenders really – Alex Baptiste, Jack Robinson and Jake Bidwell – so it’s something we’ve got to look at and adjust to accordingly.”
On a brighter note for the R’s, Massimo Luongo has recovered from illness and is set to start.
