QPR trio could return for Blackburn game
Injured QPR trio Lyndon Dykes, Lee Wallace and Sam McCallum could all be fit to return for Saturday’s vital promotion clash at Blackburn.
Dykes and Wallace have both missed the past two games, against Hull and Blackpool, with the Scotland striker suffering a minor knock in training and Wallace injuring his groin in the first half of last week’s 2-0 defeat at Millwall.
“They could be very close, they’ve just got to be looked at,” Rangers boss Mark Warburton said.
“A game every three or four days is going to have consequences, but they’re close.
“He (Dykes) just took a knock. He took a knock to, how can I describe it, a certain area. But he’s okay and he’s not far away.”
Norwich loanee McCallum has been sidelined with a torn hamstring sustained in October’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest, which resulted in surgery, but came through unscathed in a 90- minute run-out for the B team at Oxford United this week.
McCallum also played 45 and 75 minutes for the Under-23s side against Cardiff and Blackburn earlier this month and Warburton said the 21-year-old, who impressed earlier in the season with two goals in eight appearances, is now pushing for a spot in the team.
“He’s had three games, he’s in a good place and he’s ready for selection now,” Warburton said.
