Bobby Zamora hailed QPR’s fighting spirit after his late goal gave them a stunning victory against Derby in the play-off final at Wembley.
Rangers, reduced to 10 men after the second-half sending-off of Gary O’Neil, absorbed sustained pressure before striker Zamora scored a dramatic winner to take the club back to the Premier League.
“It is a magnificent feeling. I am over the moon for this set of lads – we’ve worked hard all year,” Zamora declared.
“It is a massive win and I am so pleased for all the lads and everybody. What a team spirit we have got now.
“We have shown great togetherness this season and in the play-off games we fought until the end.”
Rangers defended resolutely after losing O’Neil – and Zamora’s 90th-minute effort was their first on target.
He explained: “I just thought ‘take a shot and hit a target’. It sat up perfectly and thankfully it fell to my left foot.”
