QPR’s forgotten man is fit enough to play
QPR manager Harry Redknapp says Luke Young is fit enough to play if required.
Young, 34, has struggled to overcome a hip condition and has not made a first-team appearance since March 2012.
Redknapp has previously indicated that the former England defender’s career could be over.
But Young has since featured in a number of games for Rangers’ development side and, despite some setbacks, appears to have made some progress.
“He’s okay now. He’s training with the team and is fit and available. If I got an injury at right-back I wouldn’t hesitate to play Luke,” Redknapp explained.
Young, signed from Aston Villa in 2011, is still very much out of favour.
He looks set to see out the remaining months of his contract at Loftus Road as there is little chance of Rangers being able to ship him out before then.
“It’s difficult to get clubs to pay the wages,” Redknapp admitted.
