QPR have confirmed the departure of Esteban Granero, who has signed for Real Sociedad for an undisclosed fee.
Granero spent last term on loan with the Spanish club, having failed to impress at Rangers the previous season.
His arrival at Loftus Road from Real Madrid in 2012 was one of the club’s flagship signings during an ill-fated summer of big spending.
Following Rangers’ promotion back to the Premier League there were suggestions that Granero could stay, but talks between the two clubs had been going on for several weeks.
R’s boss Harry Redknappp said: “[Chief executive] Philip Beard did the deal at the weekend. I wish him well. He’s a great lad – a fantastic boy.”
Granero managed 25 league appearances for QPR, scoring once.
