Chris Ramsey praised Darnell Furlong after the teenage full-back impressed on his senior debut for QPR.
The club’s injury problems meant the 19-year-old son of former R’s striker Paul Furlong was called upon at Hull, where a last-minute goal secured 2-1 victory for the home side.
“He did really well, didn’t he? I was really pleased for him,” said head coach Ramsey, who also brought young midfielder Michael Doughty on as a substitute.
Ramsey was reluctant to talk about the first-half sending-off of Joey Barton, who was red-carded for lashing out at Tom Huddlestone.
Barton, booked in all of his seven previous matches, was dismissed just after the half-hour mark.
Ramsey said: “I haven’t really seen the incident. We’ll review it. We’re not really going to discuss it at this time. We’ll have a chat when I see him next.
“If the incident isn’t a good one once we’ve reviewed it, then I’m sure Joey will be the first to put his hand up and admit he should have acted in a different manner.
“I thought the boys adjusted very well and unfortunately we couldn’t hang on to get that point after working so hard.
“I’ve got to look at the positives that came out of the game and look at trying to build the team up for the next game.”
