Former QPR keeper Green could join Chelsea

Chelsea are in discussions with Rob Green about bringing him in as a back-up goalkeeper.

The 38-year-old former England international, who had a four-year spell at QPR, was considering retiring from the game having recently been released by Huddersfield.

But Chelsea – who considered Green as a possible option as stand-in keeper two years ago – have offered him a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

With Eduardo and Jamal Blackman out on loan, the Blues are looking to add a keeper to their squad for the coming season.

Green made his name at Norwich and spent six years at West Ham.

In 2012 he joined QPR, making 128 appearances during an eventful stay at Loftus Road which included a promotion, two relegations and various behind-the-scenes problems.

He was released by Rangers in 2016 and spent a year with Leeds before joining Huddersfield, where he did not make a single appearance.
