Former QPR boss Anderson dies
Stan Anderson has died at the age of 85.
Anderson was assistant manager at QPR and had a brief spell as boss in 1974.
He was installed following the departure of Gordon Jago and replaced by Dave Sexton.
A wing-half, Anderson played twice for England and was part of the squad for the 1962 World Cup in Chile.
He captained Sunderland, Newcastle and Middlesbrough during his distinguished playing career.
We’re saddened by the news that Stan Anderson, who had the distinction of captaining Newcastle United, @SunderlandAFC and @Boro, has sadly passed away.
Our deepest condolences go to Stan’s family and his many friends both in and out of football. https://t.co/wAXEWWfA74 #NUFC pic.twitter.com/gJLnUKFgOK
