Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Jamie Mackie from QPR.
Mackie’s first-team prospects are bleak under Harry Redknapp and look likely to remain so, with the Rangers boss chasing the likes of Gary Hooper, Andros Townsend and Charlie Austin.
Forest manager Billy Davies is also keen on Burnley striker Austin, 24, and Mackie is one of a number of other forwards on his radar.
Mackie, 27, played a key role in Rangers’ promotion in 2011, scoring nine goals during the first half of the season before suffering a broken leg.
He has made 85 appearances for the club, scoring 18 goals and featuring as a striker or on either flank.
Several other clubs have been alerted to his possible availability and are monitoring the situation.
Redknapp is making wholesale changes following Rangers’ relegation to the Championship and is on course to sign Hooper from Celtic unless a Premier League club are prepared to match his offer.
Townsend, who impressed while on loan at Loftus Road from Tottenham last season, is also waiting to see whether a top-flight club come in for him.

We must keep Mackie he gives 100percent in every game and is a great player for the chalenge ahead
Madness or nonsense? Redknapp 'wants the right type for the championship slog' and said if he had 11 of Mackie we'd have stayed up.
5 gone and 4 or 5 attacking/midfield bigger earners still up for sale. Mackie needed and surely wanted, he's proven in the championship. Fair play if he gets a gig in the bottom half of the Prem, otherwise lunacy.
