Hammers striker Zarate set for QPR medical
West Ham striker Mauro Zarate is set to undergo a medical at QPR ahead of a possible loan move to Loftus Road.
The 27-year-old only joined West Ham in the summer from Argentine club Velez Sarsfield but has struggled to hold down a first-team place, making only five Premier League starts.
Zarate, who has scored two goals for the Hammers, could complete the move before QPR’s FA Cup game against Sheffield United this weekend.
He had a spell on loan at Birmingham City in 2008, scoring four goals in his 14 appearances, and has also played for Inter Milan and Lazio.
Meanwhile, Rangers are also hoping to sign Ryan Manning, 18, from Irish side Galway.
Manning, a Republic of Ireland Under-19 international, can play up front or in midfield and has attracted interest from a number of English clubs.

We need some help up front.
But if he can’t get in the Hammers team he’s no good for us?.
Push the boat out a little.
If QPR are to stay in the Premiership a creative midfielder and a top striker are all that’s required.
The Palace game was dire, but there were a number of good performances but little creativity.
I was impressed with the back line and Henry who was excellent.
Hoillet and Phillips need to be more aggressive and direct.
Much better service to the forwards is important.
Move the ball quicker.
QPR lack real pace going forward.
But pleased with progress and we are in the mix
Remember we were bottom with 4 points not long ago.
Barton’s correct no booing please not ever a good idea.
The Palace game was not good but there was 100% effort so no complaints.
