West London Sport recently revealed that Rangers were set to sign the veteran right-back on short-term deal as cover for the injured Darnell Furlong.
Rangel, 35, was a free agent, having left Swansea City when his contract expired this summer. He has signed a five-month deal at Loftus Road.
He spent 11 years with Swansea making 328 league appearances and playing a key role in their climb to the Premier League.
Furlong, who missed much of last season with knee trouble, suffered another knee injury during a recent pre-season friendly against AFC Wimbledon and is expected to be out for at least three months.
