Swans boss accuses Henry of ‘leg breaker’
Swansea manager Garry Monk was furious with the decision to send Wayne Routledge off during his team’s 1-1 draw at QPR.
Routledge, playing against his former club, was red-carded late on for his reaction to a challenge from Rangers midfielder Karl Henry. The Welsh club plan to appeal against the dismissal.
Henry’s challenge angered Monk, who said: “It was a leg breaker. Everyone in the stadium knew it apart from the official.
“It was a double whammy because he was then sent off for kicking out when he didn’t.
“It [Henry’s challenge] was absolutely out of control and could have broken Wayne’s leg.
“My player goes from nearly having his leg broken to being sent off. He doesn’t kick out, he just nudged the player away from him.
“Wayne actually bit his tongue in that situation. I thought he controlled himself very well, so for him to be sent off is bizarre.
“The right thing is to rescind the red card. It’s there for all to see. I hope sense prevails.”
Swansea also felt aggrieved because QPR goalkeeper Rob Green escaped without punishment after handling the ball outside his area in the first half.
“The linesman has a clear view and I don’t know how he misses that,” said Monk.

another unbelievable couple of decisions against us. Officials have ruined the Xmas football with bizarre decisions and ommissions and must be held to account. i feel sorry for monk who clearly wants to say what he feels, but cant afford it.
