Sunderland and West Ham have made enquiries about QPR midfielder Leroy Fer.
The 25-year-old Netherlands international, who moved to Loftus Road from Norwich a year ago, has been widely tipped to leave following Rangers’ relegation.
His representatives have been trying to secure him a move back to the Premier League and are hopeful that Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat will sign his fellow Dutchman.
However, West Ham have also expressed an interest, potentially giving Fer an opportunity to remain in London.
Both clubs have discussed a loan deal with a view to an eventual permanent move.
