Sunday newspaper stories involving the area’s clubs….
Southampton have been linked with QPR forward Ebere Eze.
The Sun on Sunday say the Premier League club “intend to keep a close eye” on Eze and that Rangers “may have to fight off a few advances” for him in January.
It comes after Southampton’s director of scouting Ross Wilson – described by the Sun on Sunday as a “Saints super-spy”- attended QPR’s recent game against Swansea.
It is claimed that Wilson is looking at potential signings for when the transfer window reopens and that Eze has been identified as a possible target.
The Sun on Sunday also say Chelsea are looking to beat Liverpool to the signing of Exeter City youngster Ben Chrisene.
Chrisene, at 15, recently became Exeter’s youngest-ever player when he featured in a Carabao Cup game against Coventry.
It broke a club record previously held by Ethan Ampadu, who was signed by Chelsea from the Devon outfit.
That has led to speculation that Chrisene could also be snapped up, with the Blues and Liverpool both said to be keen.
Chelsea are currently under a transfer ban but a successful appeal for the Court of Arbitration for Sport would lead to it being lifted in January.
