Watford defender Gabriele Angella has agreed personal terms with QPR and is due to undergo a medical on Tuesday morning.
The Italian centre-back, 26, is set to link up with Rangers’ recent signing Daniel Tozser at Loftus Road.
Midfielder Tozser was on loan at Watford from Parma last season and both men played key roles as the Hornets won promotion to the Premier League.
A former Italy Under-21 international, Angella moved to Vicarage Road from Udinese in 2013.
He has made a total of 75 Championship appearances but has not featured in the league so far this season.
QPR head coach Chris Ramsey has been looking for a ball-playing central defender to play alongside skipper Nedum Onuoha.
Rangers turned their attention to Angella after missing out on United States international Tim Ream, who opted to join Fulham.
