Sheffield Wednesday have completed the signing of Massimo Luongo from QPR for an undisclosed fee.
West London Sport revealed earlier this summer that Rangers were looking to sell the Australian midfielder, who had a year remaining on his contract.
Luongo, 26, was not involved in Rangers’ pre-season campaign and there has been every expectation that he would leave Loftus Road this month.
After rumblings of interest among a number of clubs in the Championship and abroad, Wednesday indicated that they wanted to do deal ahead of Thursday’s deadline.
Luongo made 145 league appearances for QPR after being signed from Swindon Town four years ago.
Meanwhile, Rangers are looking to complete pre-deadline deal for another forward, with Nahki Wells among the options being explored.
