Harry Redknapp insists Matt Phillips has the ability to be a success in the Premier League for QPR.
The 23-year-old wide-man has struggled for fitness and form since his move to Loftus Road from Blackpool last summer.
He was playing well before an ankle injury sidelined him in February and he has endured a disappointing start to this season, missing chances in Rangers’ 4-0 defeats at Tottenham and Manchester United.
Phillips was also unable to make an impact at Southampton on Saturday before being replaced by Junior Hoilett.
But Redknapp said: “He’s got all the ammunition. He’s big, powerful, quick and has good skill.
“He needs to weigh in with a few goals. He needs lots of work but there’s definitely a talent there. He can do it.”
