Harry Redknapp felt QPR’s poor defending against an “edgy” Everton side cost them a first away point of the season.
The 3-1 defeat at Goodison Park means they have lost all nine of their away games this term, eight of them in the league.
And Rangers boss Redknapp believes Everton were short of their best and potentially there for the taking had his team not been so sloppy at the back.
“They were poor goals – that was the problem,” he said.
“I felt comfortable up until the first goal and thought ‘We’ve got a big chance here tonight’.
“For that first goal we gave the ball away cheaply and it certainly changed the direction of the game.
“For the second one we gave a silly free-kick away and there was another deflection and we were 2-0 down at half-time, which we didn’t deserve.
“I felt there was a chance to come here tonight and get something. I felt the crowd was edgy and Everton played edgy. I felt we had a real opportunity.”
Rangers remain in the bottom three and are the only team in England not to have picked up at least a point on their travels this term.
Redknapp added: “It’s been difficult. We’ve had tough away games and it’s hard when you come up from the Championship. It’s difficult for six, seven or eight teams that are down there.”
