Ramsey insists he can turn it around at QPR

Chris Ramsey insisted he still believes he can turn QPR’s fortunes around following their derby defeat at Brentford.

The Bees’ first victory over Rangers for 50 years leaves Ramsey’s side 11th in the Championship table, with only two wins from their last nine matches.

The under-fire head coach, who was again barracked by frustrated QPR fans, must now wait to see whether the club’s owners are willing to give him more time.

Those owners have recently made it clear that a promotion challenge must be the aim, having initially asked Ramsey to oversee a period of consolidation in which young players were developed.

Ramsey said: “We’ve had an adjustment of our expectations. From my point of view, when you’re in the seat you have to abide by what the owners are aspiring to do.

“I feel once we get ourselves more settled we will be able to put a run together and hopefully we will be up there.”

Marco Djuricin’s second-half goal was enough to give Brentford their fourth consecutive win under recently-installed head coach Lee Carsley.

Rangers were poor again, although they were unlucky not to go ahead when Massimo Luongo hit the woodwork twice in the first half.

Having again been on the receiving end of an angry reaction from R’s fans, Ramsey said: “The bragging rights are what people want.

“We feel sorry for them that they’ve come and given us their support and unfortunately again we haven’t been able to bring home the three points.”

But he added: “I don’t think the boys played as though they were lacking heart or determination.

“We didn’t take our chances when they came and they took the chance they had when it came.

“For everyone that means my tactics were wrong and his (Carsley’s) were right.

“That’s what people look at despite the fact that we’ve hit the post twice.”

  • Agree with all the comments
Inept manager who is clueless about tactics and formations
We will be relegated this season if he does not leave now
Right now only Leeds and mk dons look worse than us

  • Unfortunately, whilst Chris seems a lovely chap, he is tactically naive, plays players out of position and seemingly constrained by some zonal marking theory that constantly leaves our old, slow players hopelessly out of position, which is why they resort to the long aimless clearances that just give possession back. Where are the 'young' players we heard so much about....playing loan lower league stuff going nowhere. Relegation is more l8kely than playoffs at the moment.

  • Time for Ramsey to go.
Followed Rangers for 45 years and that goes down as one of the worst performances in a London derby I can remember.
My nan is 92 now and a life long rangers fan and she would of played better than any of them last night.
If you read this Ramsey email me and I will send you her number.
I am ashamed of last nights performance and I have to face Brentford fans today.
Ramsey out before its to late.

  • Ramsey still has no coaching ability sorry
We didn't look like scoring no midfield support to Lone striker Phillips has to play wide and use his pace
    Instead of midfield
    What ever happened to 4-2-4 4-3-3 where's that gone now it's 5-4-1. 4-5-1 4-3-2-1
Barca have 4 players that can and do score 2 1/2 are strikers and great players rangers have 1
Time to go if you don't change Ramsey
Your formation and use players in the wrong positions excuses all the time all too old in the back and defensive midfielders
    Good luck rs
