QPR in a ‘difficult period’ – Hasselbaink
QPR boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink admitted after his team’s defeat at Huddersfield that their confidence has been severely affected by the recent 6-0 hammering by Newcastle.
Rangers were beaten 2-1 by the Terriers and barely troubled them before Idrissa Sylla pulled a goal back in the second half.
“We need to lift the players. Confidence is low, but that can change in an instant,” Hasselbaink said.
“We are in a difficult period because of the result the other day. That result was a punch.
“It’s only us that can change it. The group is good but we need to go back to basics and then work from there.”
Recent signing Sylla scoring his first goal for the club was the only positive for Rangers, who are 16th in the Championship table.
“I’m happy for him that he’s off the mark,” said Hasselbaink.
