QPR are hoping to complete the signing of winger Yeni Ngbakoto from French club Metz but face competition from Wolves.
Rangers have spent several weeks trying to negotiate a deal to sign the 24-year-old and looked set to get their man.
But there is late interest from Wolves, who are looking to spend heavily following a recent takeover by a Chinese group and this week gazumped QPR to sign Iceland forward Jon Dadi Bodvarsson.
Rangers aimed to bring in at least one winger before the start of the new season but must now wait for a decision from Ngbakoto, who spoke to Wolves on Friday, since which he has reportedly also spoken to Burnley.
