QPR midfielders Joey Barton and Jordon Mutch remain sidelined for Saturday’s west London derby at Chelsea, along with Nedum Onuoha.
All three players have hamstring problems and, having initially been confident he would make a swift return, Rangers have admitted defeat in their battle to get defender Onuoha fit for the trip to Stamford Bridge.
On a more positive note for Harry Redknapp, the Rangers manager has been boosted by Sandro’s return to fitness.
The Brazilian midfielder has struggled with knee and groin injuries in recent weeks but played a key role in Monday’s 2-0 win against Aston Villa which lifted the R’s off the bottom of the table.
“That was good,” Redknapp said. “It’s important to get him playing again and he got 90 minutes under his belt.
“A tackle he made late in the game, where he came from nowhere – that’s Sandro.
“We need that in the middle of the park. He gives us strength and power in there.”
