QPR sign Ingram and plan short-term Motta deal

QPR have completed the signing of goalkeeper Matt Ingram from Wycombe for an undisclosed fee.

West London Sport revealed on Friday that Rangers had tabled bid for Ingram, 22, and later revealed that the offer had been accepted and he was set to move to Loftus Road.  He has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract.

Ingram, 22, attracted interest from a number of clubs with some impressive performances for the Chairboys, who are managed by former Rangers favourite Gareth Ainsworth.

“It’s a fantastic move for Matt Ingram. He was so young coming into the team three years ago, and has been absolutely consistent and he deserves to prove himself at a higher level,” Ainsworth told Wycombe’s website.

And QPR manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink told his club’s website: “We feel Matt will play at the highest level one day.”

Rangers now plan to offload veteran keeper Rob Green, whose contract includes clause that would see the 35-year-old land a new deal if he makes 30 appearances this term. Green has so far made 25.

Green appears to have played his final match for QPR

The club also plan to offer Italian defender Marco Motta a contract until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old right-back was recently granted trial by Rangers, who have been keen to assess his fitness – Motta has been without a club since leaving Watford at the end of last season.

Prior to his three-month spell at Vicarage Road, during which time he made seven league starts for the Hornets, Motta was at Juventus.

Motta, who began his career at Roma and also spent a year at Udinese, was sent out on loan to Genoa, Bologna and Catania by Juve before eventually securing a move to England.

Rangers believe he can provide them with short-term cover at right-back before longer-term options are assessed in the summer.

And QPR have enquired about Patrick Bamford but have been told the Chelsea forward wants to join Premier League club.
