Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says Tjaronn Chery showed a good attitude prior to his recall to the QPR side.
Chery has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular this season but was given a starting place against Birmingham on Saturday.
He responded with a fine performance, scoring the opening goal in 2-0 win at Loftus Road.
“Chery’s been knocking on the door for a while,” said Rangers boss Hasselbaink.
“He’s been doing ever so well, training really well and has been really positive around the place.
“I had to say to him that he had to wait for his opportunity. That’s how it is with football.”
Rangers, 11th in the Championship table, are away to MK Dons on Saturday.
