Armand Traore is due to see a specialist on Friday and QPR are optimistic he will be given the green light to return to action.
Traore missed Rangers’ entire pre-season campaign with a knee problem but the injury appears to have healed.
Fitness problems have been an almost constant issue for the 25-year-old since his move to Loftus Road from Arsenal four years ago and he has made only 64 league starts for the club.
Meanwhile, Yun Suk-Young is also set to resume to full training – he too missed pre-season because of a knee injury.
QPR recently signed veteran defender Paul Konchesky on season-long loan from Leicester because the injuries to Traore and Yun had left them short of options at left-back.
Head coach Chris Ramsey has admitted Rangers cannot afford for Konchesky to be unavailable while Traore and Yun are sidelined.
