Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has returned to QPR from his loan spell at Gillingham.
The striker was on a season-long loan with the League One club but that deal has been cut short with the agreement of both clubs.
However, as it was done outside the transfer window, he remains a Gillingham-registered player and ineligible to feature for Rangers for the rest of the season.
The 26-year-old was the Gills’ leading scorer, with 10 goals in 35 appearances in all competitions.
But he failed to score in six outings under Ady Pennock, who replaced Justin Edinburgh as Gillingham boss in January.
Emmanuel-Thomas had been surplus to requirements at Loftus Road and ended last season on loan at MK Dons.
He was signed on a free transfer from Bristol City in the summer of 2015 and enjoyed a purple patch early last season, scoring four goals in seven appearances while Rangers were without the injured Charlie Austin.
But he fell out of favour under both former head coaches Chris Ramsey and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
