QPR told Bamford wants Premier League move
QPR have made an enquiry about Patrick Bamford but have been told the Chelsea forward is likely to join a Premier League club.
Rangers have been linked with a loan move for Bamford since the 22-year-old’s recent return from an unsuccessful loan spell at Crystal Palace.
An approach has been made, but Bamford, who has plenty of Football League experience having been on loan at MK Dons, Derby and Middlesbrough, has set his heart on joining another top-flight club after failing to make an impact at Palace earlier this season.
Rangers manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink knows Bamford well, having worked with him when the Dutchman was on the coaching staff at Nottingham Forest, who sold the player to Chelsea in 2012.
QPR have argued that Bamford would be more likely to play regular first-team football at Loftus Road – Hasselbaink is keen to pair him with recent signing Conor Washington – than if he joins another Premier League side.
However, a number of other Championship clubs also want him and have been putting forward the same argument.
The Daily Mirror today reports that Norwich are keen to sign Bamford, who scored 19 goals for Middlesbrough last season.
