QPR legend Phil Parkes is to undergo treatment for bowel cancer.
The former goalkeeper, 63, made nearly 350 appearances in a nine-year spell at Rangers during which he was capped by England.
Parkes was a key member of the QPR side which narrowly missed out on the league title in 1976. Three years later he joined West Ham, where he also established himself as a hugely popular figure.
He has remained a frequent visitor to Loftus Road, where he has worked on the commercial side of the club and more recently was the guest of honour for last month’s game against Watford.
