QPR have discussed whether to offer Tim Cahill a short-term deal.
Cahill, 38, has been offered the chance to return to Millwall, where he spent seven years and was a team-mate of R’s first-team coach Marc Bircham.
The Australian is a free agent, having left Melbourne City last month.
He is keen to find a new club ahead of this summer’s World Cup, which he helped his country qualify for by scoring twice in a play-off match against Syria in October.
He left Millwall in 2004 to join Everton, where spent eight years and made 226 Premier League appearances, scoring 56 goals.
Cahill then had spells at New York Red Bulls and Chinese clubs Shanghai Shenhua and Hangzhou Greentown before moving to Melbourne in 2016.
Nottingham Forest have also expressed an interest in signing him.
Rangers manager Ian Holloway is keen to add to his squad but financial restrictions mean the club’s options are limited.
And the QPR hierarchy will need to be persuaded that Cahill would be a worthwhile addition at this stage of his career.
