Dunne and Fer could be close to return

QPR believe Richard Dunne and Leroy Fer could both be back in action in the next couple of weeks.

Midfielder Fer and veteran defender Dunne suffered knee ligament injuries in February and have been battling to return before the end of the season.

Dunne had been a key presence at the back for Rangers, while Fer was in excellent form before being carried off during the win at Sunderland.

“The two lads have worked extremely hard and the medical staff have been really good with them,” said head coach Chris Ramsey.

“We’re hoping that within the next one to two weeks one or maybe both of them will be ready for consideration.”

Fer scored in Rangers’ victory at Sunderland

The 2-0 triumph at Sunderland is QPR’s only away victory this season and their only win since Ramsey took over following the departure of Harry Redknapp.

They have lost six of their seven games under Ramsey and are one off the bottom of the table, four points from safety.

But he insists they still believe they can get enough points in their remaining eight matches to stay in the Premier League.

“There’s no doom and gloom here at the moment,” Ramsey said.

“We’ve worked to try and keep everything as upbeat as possible. Once you start putting the doom and gloom in it does have a major effect on confidence.

“We were very fortunate that the weekend we played Crystal Palace, where we didn’t do ourselves justice in that game, that other results were in our favour.

“The last thing you want to be doing is worrying about what other teams are doing, but as the games dwindle away unfortunately you do have to have that little look at other results.

“You’ve just got to try to win your next game and I believe that we have got the capacity to do it.

“What we want is a high-energy performance in these next three games, to make sure we take our chances and battle right to the end.”
