Maurcio Isla has suffered a setback in his attempt to overcome a knee injury and is a doubt for QPR’s game against Everton.
The Chilean has been struggling with the problem for some time and suffered a reaction after returning to training earlier this week.
His condition will be assessed over the next 48 hours and Rangers, second from bottom of the table, are hoping he will be able to rejoin the squad for Sunday’s match.
Head coach Chris Ramsey said: “His knee’s sore. He trained earlier this week and we had to rest him yesterday a little bit because there was a little bit of a reaction in that knee.
“He’s shown great determination to want to be involved despite having an injury that could see him out for a long time.
“We’ll have to play it by ear closer to the game. I’m hoping he’ll be ready for the weekend.”
Isla was unable to recover in time for Saturday’s defeat at Crystal Palace, where youngster Darnell Furlong was given torrid time at right-back before being replaced at half-time.
Ramsey says Furlong, 19, has been nursing a calf problem and will also be monitored ahead of Everton’s visit.
“I’m hoping that they’ll both be fit. If they’re not you’ve got your squad of 25 and you’ve got to jiggle it around,” Ramsey said.
“I’m never going to be one that complains about injuries. All you can do is the best you can do with the players available to you.”

He's not making excuses. Learn to read.
Oh and your team contains 4 players that aren't fit and 2 out of position. Not as easy as it sounds
No prob's with injuries stop making excuses. We have enough good player's to make a team that can beat Everton. Leave out furlong. My team would by(green.yunsuk. caulker.hill.onuoha.Sandro.Henry.m-phillips.kranjoar. Vargas. Austin.)4-1-3-2
