QPR striker Andy Johnson has been referred to a specialist after failing to overcome an ankle injury.
Rangers manager Harry Redknapp hoped to have the 33-year-old available during the run-in to the season.
But Johnson, who has been nursing a knee complaint for most of his Rangers career, has not been an option in recent weeks.
Already without sidelined top scorer Charlie Austin, QPR must hope January signing Kevin Doyle recovers from a knee injury sooner rather than later.
Doyle was hurt during the weekend win at Birmingham, missed Tuesday’s defeat at Brighton, and is doubt for Saturday’s home game against Yeovil.
