Hasselbaink ‘very proud’ of QPR’s second-half display
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said he was pleased with QPR’s second-half performance in their 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest.
The FA Cup third-round defeat at the City Ground, where Rangers have never won, means they are still waiting for their first win since Hasselbaink took over as manager.
The Dutchman said “harsh words” were exchanged in the dressing room after a poor first-half display, but insisted his team were unlucky to lose.
He said: “In the second half it was a lot better. We were the better team and should have scored. We should have got at least a draw.
“I was very happy – very proud in the second half to be QPR manager. The first half was not us and not me – I want us to play on the front foot.
“They did that in the second half and we now need to produce that for 96 minutes.”
Rangers nonetheless struggled to create clear-cut chances in the second half, although Gabriele Angella had a header saved,
“You always want to create more chances, but it was a good amount of chances,” Hasselbaink said.
“We had corners and their goalkeeper made a great save from Angella. We had a few other shots and had crosses, so in that way I can’t be disappointed.”
