Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink felt QPR were denied a clear penalty in their 1-1 draw at Burton and that Ben Turner should have been sent off shortly before the home side’s goal.
Rangers have won just one of their last eight league matches and needed an equaliser by Sebastian Polter to rescue a point against boss Hasselbaink’s former club.
But the Dutchman insisted that Brewers defender Turner ought to have been dismissed when the score was level.
“I think the referee missed a handball from a corner that should have been a penalty,” Hasselbaink said.
“I also think just before Burton scored Turner needs to be sent off for a second yellow card.
“If you look at what Turner did it’s a (bookable) offence. It was in the last third and there was an opportunity to score. It should have been another yellow card.
“Burton scored 20 seconds after but we had a good reaction and I felt we could go on and win it.”
Rangers were without the ill Idrissa Sylla, while Polter came on in the second half because an ankle knock meant he was not fit enough to start the game.
Nevertheless, Hasselbaink felt they created enough chances to have won.
“It was was two points lost for us. We created good chances in the first half and needed to take them,” he said.
“It was not a fluent game. It was a bitty game and I think we edged it.
“I was pleased with the determination we showed and the chances we had.
“There was no faulting the desire or the commitment. We did that very well.
“We want to kick on. We want to get that second goal but not give things away. It was a pity.”
