Defender Simpson cleared to return for QPR
Danny Simpson has been included in the QPR squad to face Middlesbrough and is likely to be on the substitutes’ bench at the Riverside Stadium.
West London Sport revealed this week that the full-back and goalkeeper Rob Green were both on course to return for Saturday’s game.
And manager Harry Redknapp confirmed on Friday that Simpson had been given the all-clear following two months on the sidelines with a back injury.
The news is a boost for Rangers as Simpson had been ever-present for them prior to his injury. He could feature in Tuesday’s game against Wigan.
“He was excellent and played every minute of every game before he got injured, so him being back is good for us,” said Redknapp.
Green missed the midweek defeat at Sheffield Wednesday after taking a heavy knock to the ribs during last Saturday’s win against Yeovil.
He trained on Friday and has also been given the green light to return, but Jermaine Jenas is unavailable and Karl Henry has gone down with a virus.
Rangers will be without Richard Dunne, who is suspended after being sent off against Wednesday.
