Fans react on Twitter react to speculation over Austin and Remy
Newcastle and Crystal Palace fans on Twitter have been reacting to yet more reports that both clubs are chasing QPR striker Charlie Austin, while Chelsea’s Loic Remy has also been linked with the Eagles as well as a return to Tyneside.
West London Sport revealed during the summer transfer window that Austin had snubbed a potential move to Palace and wants to keep his options open as his contract expires at the end of the season. But Palace have again been tipped to sign him.
And there have been a host of reports claiming Newcastle have been pursuing a deal to sign Austin, despite the Magpies not making an approach.
Remy, meanwhile, has also been linked with a move. The former QPR forward, who previously spent a season on loan at St James’ Park, has been unable to establish himself as a first-team player at Stamford Bridge and many Newcastle fans would like to have him back.
Pardew will probably take either Austin or Remy, and he’s in a stronger position than us. We have to just take the other one. #nufc #cpfc

We won’t get Austin and we won’t get Remy neither will be considered #NoSellOnValue #nufc

If it’s a direct choice between signing Remy on loan or Austin permanent I would take Remy any day of the week! #NUFC

I’d take Loic Remy back on loan in a heartbeat. Exactly what we need, a quick striker than can finish. Want Austin as well though. #nufc

Sick of hearing about Austin now, he’s gonna go to a club with ambition. Not Newcastle United.. #nufc

Everyone keeps saying we need Austin personally I think we need a very quick CF like remy although Austin would improve our squad #NUFC

Some Palace fans are sceptical about the chances of Austin moving to Selhurst Park – or whether he would be a good signing for their club.
Surely we can get better than an injury prone austin? #cpfc

Looks like #CPFC are in for Austin and Remy. Both would be nice. And another winger please…

Think we will have a bid accepted for Austin but he will say no. Why say yes when he can pocket any transfer fee offered in 6 months? #cpfc
