Lewis Walker, the young striker having trial at QPR this week, is looking for a club having recently left Derby County.
The 20-year-old son of former England defender Des Walker joined Derby from non-League Ilkeston in 2016.
He did not make a first-team appearance for the Rams and in August his contract was terminated by mutual agreement.
During the summer he had a trial at Chesterfield, who are managed by former QPR midfielder Martin Allen.
Allen told the Derbyshire Times: “I thought he did extremely well but at the moment I just can’t bring him in.
“He’s a good player, he’s going to be a very good player.
“I think with hard work and development programme, with upper body strengthening, he’s certainly got something.
“He had a great attitude and desire but at the moment it wasn’t right for us to bring him in.”
