Goals for Owens and Pedder as QPR youngsters win

QPR: Loftus Road

Charlie Owens started and scored for QPR’s Under-23s as Rafferty Pedder’s double secured a 3-2 victory in the final league game of the season.

Two headed goals from defender Charlie Hughes either side of a stunning free-kick from Owens had put the away side 2-1 up before Pedder followed in at the back post to score after Shiloh Remy was denied late on.

And the former Tottenham man scored again moments later with a fine volley which found its way over the line.

Owens, 24, had played for the first team in the EFL Cup before suffering a serious knee injury back in 2019 and is out of contract at the end of this season.

Forward Dillon De Silva – who was named on the first-team bench for QPR’s clash with Stoke City in December 2020 – returned to the Under023s following a five-month spell out with injury and played 45 minutes.
