QPR boss Mark Warburton lavished praise on Ebere Eze after the win at Hull but believes the youngster has a lot of work to do to realise his full potential.
The 21-year-old converted twice from the penalty spot as Rangers stormed back from a goal down to win 3-2 at the KCOM Stadium.
Although Warburton was impressed with Eze, particularly with his composure to tuck away the first penalty, he warned there is still a long way to go for him.
He said: “I think he is a very talented player, he’s a great character, but he’s a young player. He’s got a lot of development potential left in him but he’s got loads of work to do to realise that potential.
“He’s a type of player that will score outstanding goals for you, and create goals for you, but so does Ilias [Chair] and Bright [Osayi-Samuel] and Nahki [Wells] and Jordan [Hugill]. Two centre-forwards who have scored seven and six each, so they are scoring goals, but it’s all about us as a team.
“What was pleasing for me to see, after making a 60-yard run for that first penalty, was that he could have rushed the penalty. But it was important that he just calmed down, let the heart slow a little bit, and then focus on the penalty, and he did that. He showed great composure and concentration.
“For a young lad to do that, all credit to him, but as I say it’s about the team.”
Warburton said Ryan Manning, who scored Rangers’ equaliser after Jarrod Bowen put Hull in front, was “desperate” to take the first penalty.
He joked: “[Manning] was trying to convince me that Eze has missed the last six out seven that he’s taken but I wasn’t falling for that!
“It’s a great situation to have two young players keen to step up in those types of situations and take penalties, so long may it continue.”
